Students moved by the plight of the less fortunate and who wish to provide services to such clients can obtain an online or full-time degree in Human Services. Jobs will include positions in public outreach organizations to assist social workers, detectives, doctors, and other specialists who help individuals with problems like substance abuse or crime or violence in their lives.
A degree in Human Services provides broad exposure to arts and humanities and facilitates the ability to relate to clients on multiple levels. Coursework includes abnormal psychology, group dynamics, developmental psychology, ethics and human services, and research design and evaluation. The set of skills that are developed make for an all-rounded personality able to address the client’s needs and decide the necessary intervention.
